In the midst of the extraordinary renewal we’re experiencing at Christ & St. Luke’s, we have found room in our hearts to reach out to a small community in Haiti with a gift of life-sustaining clean water. After Saturday’s hugely successful Recycled Treasures yard sale – which generated $4,177(!) – we have reached our goal of $15,000 to plan, dig and maintain a water well in that impoverished but still-beautiful country.

Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for those who took this long fund-raising journey: the youth who took a water-only pledge and played their hearts out on violins and cellos; those who took part in this year’s plant and herb sale; who bought renewable grocery bags and water bottles; who volunteered to put on the sale, arriving before dawn on a rain-threatened Saturday to get ready; those who donated long-loved treasures and those of us – and hundreds of strangers – who couldn’t resist buying them.  Finally, those who simply contributed to a great cause. To all, we simply say thank you, thank you!

Caring for Creation.

Halfway There!

We at Christ & St. Luke’s have reached the halfway mark in raising the funds to plan, dig and maintain a water well for a needy community in Haiti! With the help of C&SL’s youth groups, a plant and herb sale, special gifts and generous contributions, Caring for Creation has raised more than $7,500 of the $15,000 needed.
Working with the much-respected group Haiti Outreach, we will be providing life-giving clean water to countless children and their families who  suffer the effects of contaminated water sources. Stop by our table at Coffee Hour this Sunday and see how you can help put us over the top!

Caring for Creation ("C4C") has kicked off a sales campaign, selling gifts to help our Clean Water for Haiti Project: a beautifully designed, re-useable grocery bag and a safely lined aluminum water bottle, both with Christ & St. Luke’s and C4C logos.

We also have birthday or anniversary cards for those who wish to share their celebration with others. The cost of $5 for the grocery bags and $10 for the water bottles will help dig a water well in Haiti where half the population have no access to life-sustaining clean water. We're more than $6,500 toward our goal. Please send donations and put us over the top.

The campaign to dig a water well in Haiti has begun! First of all, one church youth group took a pledge to drink nothing but tap water for two weeks, and several friends and parents sponsored them. Another, musically talented, group had a "busking" during coffee hour during which congregants tossed donations into a violin case. More than a thousand dollars was raised! Soon after, a plant and herb sale generated another thousand. At this point, with many more activities planned, we have about $6,200 toward our goal of $15,000.
